I’m Siobhan, your host and I’m so happy you’re here!  I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 24 and have been living the Beetus life ever since!  Since my diagnosis, I’ve tried to remain positive and just remember that things could be a lot worse. Though diabetes definitely isn’t fun, it’s helped me learn so much more about myself and my body -- and I learn more and more every day.  Just keep looking up and looking forward -- life is good!

 

This blog is meant to highlight the highs and lows (literally and figuratively) of living with diabetes, but not just that!  My hope is to share helpful tips, yummy recipes, and who knows, maybe even some great fashion finds (I’m an avid online shopper -- Amazon, RueLala, and more...)!  Diabetes is just one aspect of my life -- but I don’t want it to be the main highlight.  Life is so much more than this disease -- so let’s talk about it all!

A little about me: 

• Though I got my degree in World Languages Education with a French focus, I currently work at a Hedge Fund -- not at all what I planned, but I LOVE IT!  I’m an EA so am able to use my crazy attention to detail for the good HA
   

• I LOVE to sing and act-- I actually wanted to major in vocal performance in college, but decided against it (as seen above...not like I’m using my actual degree anyway) -- I don’t get to participate in theater much anymore, but man, the shower is my PLACE to sing.  Also, when I’m alone in the car, man I BELT IT OUTTT

• I got married last October to my high school sweetheart (Mark).  We’ve been together for 12 years -- CRAZY right?!  He has stuck by me through thick and thin and is my diabetes partner in crime!  He is AMAZING
   

• I have the most wonderful parents and the best older brother in the world.  I honestly love them to pieces and don't know where I would be without them.  They are extremely supportive of everything I do!
   

• Mark and I recently adopted a French bulldog named Cash.  I am way more than obsessed….

• I can have a Bloody Mary at any point in the day -- they are my favorite
   

• I love pickles - I can eat them straight out of the jar
   

• I am an Amazon crazy shopper -- I mean, if it’s Prime and free returns, WHY NOT?!  But I guess I don’t just limit to Amazon -- I really just enjoy shopping...
   

• My best friends are still my best friends from elementary school - so over 20 years, which I think is pretty amazing
   

• I love me some binge watching Netflix​
   

• My favorite season is Fall - love the crisp air and the smell of the leaves.  And especially love oversized sweaters and scarves - comfy, cozy & cute!
   

• I absolutely love to travel.  Exploring different places is one of my favorite things to do, and I wish I had more time to do it.  Mark and I have done a bunch of traveling, but we really are hoping to get even more under our belt!
